Dragon Fruit

I realized today was Friday, which means that I lost a day.  Even though it’s Thursday night for all you Americans… It’s Friday morning here.  So I’m going to start doing my ‘weeklies’ on the day that makes sense for me.

Hence, Happy Aloha Friday!

My new pals (well, they are Rob’s friends that I have begun to  commandeer) brought by heaps of really nice gifts, including Dragon Fruit!  It reminded me of Hawaii and how much I love island fruit.

To enjoy, just slice in half and dig in!  To me, it tastes a bit like a cucumber/melon/kiwi but less sweet.

Welcome to Lamma Island

After 72 hours of travel, and another late plane, I’ve arrived on Lamma Island.  Sorry for the delay, I could have written all day, but I just turned my computer on.

No surprise to anyone, but I blew the fuses to the apartment within 10 minutes of being left alone in the apartment. Of course.  So, that giant iPod/radio/alarm clock that I lugged across the world is now fried.

I’ve got a tad bit of the jet lag, so I’m going to nap and come back when my head doesn’t feel like it’s spun off.

For now, enjoy this lovely picture of our beach.  I can see this from our apartment.

Right now I’m probably in the airplane after my giant layover (from the stinkin’ delayed flight) on the way to Hong Kong.

There is a list of things I might be doing on the plane, including but not limited to:

  • Reading Bossypants by Tina Fey
  • Snoozing
  • Getting really dehydrated
  • Listening to The Descendants soundtrack
  • Sitting still
  • Being scared of airplane restrooms
  • Wishing I could fly first class
So, as you can see, I currently don’t have very much going on.

I’m not sure when I’ll get time to get a meaningful post but here’s a video that you might enjoy.  I recommend making this full screen.

Rice Park in St.Paul, Minnesota

My flight got delayed.  I’ve been in Chicago since Monday at 7:30am.  The plane had some issues with the navigation system and by the time they got it fixed we passengers had been on the plane longer than the allowed 3 hours, and the in flight crew would have been illegally over on their hours.  So here I am.

I hear that Minnesota is getting a really decent size snowstorm today.  If that’s the case and the roads are safe tomorrow, I suggest popping on your favorite pair of boots and heading down across the river to good ol’ Saint Paul.  Rice Park is really beautifully lit up, or it was last time I was there a few weeks ago.  Get ready to see this really romantic scene!  (Sorry for the phone camera quality.)

Just like a fairy tale.
