I’m starting to get a handle on Lamma.  It’s a fresh breath of (clean) air compared to Hong Kong across the bay.  Quiet, laid back, beautiful… it’s got something for everyone.  The people who I’ve been introduced to are wonderful, they are smart, kind and hilarious.

There are no vehicles here (just emergency ones and these little motor carts that cart goods around.  Many people bike.

I like eggs

A few of you might remember that I raved about the eggs in Dominica.  Yes, they came from those crazy hens that I complained about pooping everywhere and I despised their buddy, Rooster, who woke me up every dang morning at 4 am.    Irritating as they were, those ladies made some awesome eggs.

It’s no secret that I love eggs.

I haven’t really come across an egg preparation that I didn’t like.
Wait, I take that back.  I don’t like when scrambled eggs get spongy-crusty.   Hmm, they aren’t supposed to get like that.  Let’s carry on, I like all eggs that I’ve eaten (thus far) when cooked correctly.

Cheese and Rice, the eggs here are amazing!  Fresh farm eggs, 8 eggs for $10 HK ($1.30 USD)… does it get better than this?!  Golden yolks, thick & tough shells, the eggs exactly as they are supposed to be.  Added bonus?  None of my neighbors have Roosters… or chickens that I’ve seen for that matter.

They are so dang pretty.  Pretty delicious.  Plus, I keep getting double yolks.  I’m not sure what that means, but I’m going to say it’s good luck.

I love cracking eggs.  This is not a metaphor.

 

 

**Edit:  I guess these eggs might not be farm fresh.  They may in fact come from mainland China.  But still tasty.  And cheap as whaaaa!

Kaihalulu

I believe Maui is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever laid eyes on.

This beach is Kaihalulu, or Red Sands Beach, located south of Hana Bay.  You might have to ask around, because the trail is kind of hidden, as well as a bit of a narrow path.  I may or may not have fallen down while walking back from there.

I remember the sand being a bit more coarse, but it’s great for exfoliation!

You can float around in this cove, which is protected from the ocean by a natural wall rock formation but beware if you’ve got your mask and snorkel on, because it’s a clothing optional beach.
I didn’t know this until I was a few feet from something I’d rather not be a few feet from, if you get my drift.

If you ever get to Maui, I’d recommend this beach.  It’s so beautiful, it will take your breath away!

I’m desperately lost when attempting to communicate. (Albeit I need to be patient with myself, as I’ve been here only days.)

I’m working very very slowly on learning Cantonese and thought maybe on Mondays we can do a useful word or phrase that I’ve learned.  I’m going to call it “Mumbling Monday” because that’s mostly all I do.  Truthfully, I just wanted to make a new theme and that was what makes the most sense. You in? Let’s do this!
