Grilled Chicken Wing

Yum.

Here on Lamma, you can eat pretty well.

Another weekend, another food find.  When things get busy, there are plenty of grilled food stands that pop up.   Remember I mentioned you can get delicious grilled pineapple here on Hung Shing Ye Beach?  My fella picked up this grilled gem for me at that same stand to keep my hunger at bay until dinner time.

$14 HK ($1.80 USD) can get you this smoky, juicy, crispy little snack.  I would recommend it to anyone passing by, if their nose hasn’t led them there already.

Pretty Pretty

LengLeng

One thing that I’ve noticed is that sometimes people double up their words, and it’s cute.  Similar to how English speakers speak to little kids and say things such as, “Ok, we are going bye-bye now”, or “Do you need to go wee-wee?”  It’s just cute.

Stanley, Hong Kong

Maritime Museum

The other day we cruised over to Stanley, which is on the southern part of Hong Kong.  Stanley is one of the higher class areas that I’ve been to.  In life in general.  I’m talking about unreal looking mansions and high rises that you can buy multiple floors to live on.  Multi-million dollar properties in US Dollars.  We clearly didn’t go on some sort of Parade of Homes tour, like my dad and I used to do when I was younger, but I’ve read enough design blogs to know what is the what.  That would have been awesome though.  If there is an Hong Kong version of that, I will be there, living vicariously through the extravagant home decor of others.

Keep the ‘Aina clean

Sick, man.

Minnehappiness makes it easy to clean up after yourself.  Trash bins on every corner.  St.Paul and most suburbs have combined bin recycling.  Hawaiians say “Keep the ‘Aina clean”, with ‘Aina meaning land.  Hong Kong is very clean, considering how many people living here.  But inevitably, rubbish makes it into the sea.  The past few days of swimming have been, uhhh more dirty.  Plastic bags– in the water are probably my least favorite thing.  This was taken in Stanley, gross huh.  I clearly wasn’t swimming in this area.  I now promise to you that when I’m swimming and I find trash, I’ll bring it in to the shore with me and put it where it belongs.

Happy Aloha Friday!

Doggies

Yup, just leave them here.

I feel like you can tell a lot about a person in the way they treat their dogs.  I know this varies from one area of the world to the next, one person to the next, but either way, it says a lot about who you are.  I really want America to have these little dog parking stalls.  They are so funny to me.

Large Boats

Obviously, Hong Kong is a major port.  I knew this.  I know this.  But for some reason, I still cannot wrap my head around the giant shipping boats that I see on a daily basis.  These ships are going and coming from everywhere in the world.  I mean, check out this boat.  It’s carrying cargo containers…. cargo containers that I usually only see when caught at a train crossing.  This boat isn’t really even that loaded down compared to some that I’ve seen.  Some are so filled it looks like the cargo containers are little legos on a large duplo boat.  It’s amazing.  I wonder what happens if one of these tips over.  Whoa that was morbid.  Sorry ’bout that.

Do you guys know of Wee Houses?  I have this secret (not a secret anymore) desire to either live in one of these, or have one as a cabin someday.  After staring at these houses online for a few years now, this cargo ship just boggles my mind.
